2010 Rusty Ball | Duke Energy Center

For the past three years, the Rusty Griswolds hosted a charity concert to generate funds to support over 100 separate charities in the Greater Cincinnati area.  They receive requests all year long to play for various charities and unfortunately there just isn’t enough time in the year to meet the philanthropic demand.  Hence, the Rusty Ball.

The concert was held at The Duke Energy Center the past two years, which is great for the 3,300 people in attendance – they have room to move around.   The event has a silent auction, a live auction, split the pot, food and drinks, and of course two awesome sets performed by the Rusty Griswolds.  This year, we had two cameo appearances: Suits That Rock and Eliot Sloan (from Blessed Union of Souls). Suits that Rock performed two songs for the crowd before the Griswolds’ second set, including a rendition of Whole Lotta Love by Led Zepplin.  Let me tell you, the lead singer for Suits That Rock has a voice too big for the Duke Energy Center – wow he has some pipes!  Loved the performance.  Later in the evening, Eliot stepped on stage to an excited crowd waiting to see him perform.  Eliot did not let them down.  He gave a great performance, singing into the inverted microphone that has become his calling card.  He had great energy and played up to the crowd and the band before catching a break with the Griswolds during Richie’s guitar solo.

I’ve had the privilege of managing the photography team to cover the event the past three years.  The images the team captures this year will be used by Open Field Creative to promote the Rusty Ball in 2011.  This year, we had a great team comprised of John Klare, Ira Holden, R. Stacy Fenner, Lisa Adams, and myself.

Here are a few of my favorite images from the night.  The entire gallery can be found here.
