I knew from the beginning that Katelyn’s session was going to be great. She had asked to get photos with her flute, as she is in the Fairfield highschool band. Not only did she want a traditional instrument photo, but she pushed further, developing her own shot of balancing the flute on the tip of her shoe – a shot she wanted to use in the 2011 senior band member tribute slide show presented during the annual band gala scheduled for later this year.
I met Katelyn for the first time in many years at the session. She was so nice and it was easy to see from our conversations that she has a passion for life. She recently began playing the piccolo in band as a personal challenge and she graciously helped me understand the nuances between flute and piccolo.
We finished the session with photos up by the fountain with Katelyn wearing a stunning hot pink formal gown she will likely wear to prom.
Katelyn was an absolute pleasure to photograph. I hope to have future opportunities to pick up where we left off as the sun dipped below the horizon.
