I love field trips. When I was asked to take Sarah’s senior portraits, I knew I was going to see some beautiful areas of the country. We started in Oldenburg, IN, but we ended up on her grandparent’s farm. There nothing quite like a country girl photographed in her element.
Oldenburg is a quaint town that seems frozen in time. It is a German community with bilingual signage and German-influenced architecture. Sarah attended Oldenburg High School and we thought it would be a great backdrop for her portraits. One of my favorite aspects of taking senior portraits is that the conversations I have with the seniors take me back to my high school days. What a great way to relive some of the best days of my life.
We then left Oldenburg and made our way to a friend’s farm near where she grew up. There is something to be said about being in a place where you can only hear nature – no traffic, no television, no noise. What a wonderful experience.
Finally, we ended the session taking pictures of her next to her Grandfather’s antique tractor. What better an example of rural life than a young lady in a summer dress next to a tractor set before a backdrop of a corn field. Sarah was a joy to photograph and getting to see more of south-eastern Indiana was an added bonus.
